In this episode, Christen Cannon and Brita Hill (PSU) invite Mauri Whalen to chat about how she got into computing, the obstacles she overcame, and the tradeoffs she was forced to make. Mauri shares inspirational stories of sneaking around late at night to get computer access, and how she continues to throw caution to the wind by diving head first into challenging software problems.

In the first of this series, Kathy Thompson (Reed College) invites Annie Duong to share her story on getting into engineering. Annie is a Senior Design Manager at Ampere, and she speaks on how to push one another to achieve your best, encouraging psychological safety at work, creating a post-gender culture, and what she thinks about during her long-distance runs.

Shiv Kaushik is an Ampere Fellow, working at the boundary between Architecture and Software.
