We dive into his backstory of how he got into knife making and about starting and growing his business. However, the main focus of the show is actually on the politics of America and Canada. Tanner is Canadian and shares how they view the US, and talks the culture of Canada. This was a very eye opening episode for me. The parallels were surprising as well as the differences. I'm joined by Michael R. Shea in this episode.  He has a fascinating story of growing up not hunting to eventually being an editor for Field and Stream magazine to now the Senior Editor for Free Range American.  He gives insight into the difference of being a contract editor versus staffed, and some of the ways you could go about getting into the world of writing yourself.  He also shares about how they got to a flock of 200 chickens.  We explore the idea of being a generalist vs. mastering a craft.  It was really interesting to think about the advantages to being a generalist in a time when people really think you must master something.
