Tragedy In Colorado - Alpha Waves Radio
It was supposed to be a great night celebrating a new film, the final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman series with "The Dark Knight Rises." The tragedy there left 12 people dead and 58 wounded. It also left us with a variety of questions, like are theaters safe? What can be done to protect those who simply want to have a couple hours of escape? Does violence in films and video games (reel violence) really create violence in the real world (real violence). And why should we ever forgive the shooter, and should we? Host Michael Hinman tackles those questions in a special edition of Alpha Waves Radio. Guests include screenwriter and social sciences teacher Carlos Pedraza, theater fan and Airlock Alpha writer Robert Yaniz Jr., Texas Methodist Church minister Josh Hale, and a former theater manager who thinks the story in Colorado could've been much different if people were allowed to carry concealed weapons into the auditorium for protection. It's all food for thought while we remember those we've lost, and pray for those who are recovering.

Mark Clark/Star Trek FAQ - Alpha Waves Radio
Do you think you've read everything there is to read about the history of Star Trek? Well, think again. Alpha Waves Radio host Michael Hinman welcomes Mark Clark, the author of the new book, "Star Trek FAQ," that brings a perspective to Star Trek's past that has never been experienced before. Like, did you know that the real killer of the original "Star Trek" series was not NBC, but actually "Gomer Pyle"? Also, did you know that DeForest Kelley, who had a solid career before Bones as a westerns bad guy, couldn't find work after "Star Trek" and had to make ends meet by performing in dinner theater soon after the series was cancelled? Hinman and Clark have a conversation every Star Trek fan should hear, about a book that every Star Trek fan should read. Also joining Michael Hinman is Joe Salcedo, the founder of The Novo Geek, a new online store that caters to the science-fiction geek. It includes things like Star Trek-centric neckties that you'd never be embarrassed to wear to work, notebooks from "Battlestar Galactica" with the corners removed, and thumb drives from "Dexter" that actually look like thumbs collected by the Ice Truck Killer.

Tim Sullivan/Chillerama - Alpha Waves Radio
Alpha Waves Radio returns! Host Michael Hinman is still nursing his voice back from a bad case of bronchitis, but he toughs it out to share some great interviews with "I Was A Teenage Werebear" director Tim Sullivan from the "Chillerama" anthology, as well as GateWorld's David Read, remembering the great Stargate composer Joel Goldsmith, who passed away last weekend. Sullivan wrote the songs featured on a soundtrack now available from "Werebear," complete with some great sounds of the 1960s from a film that celebrates the classic drive-in movie theater. "Werebear" is currently available on iTunes and everywhere else soundtracks are sold. Sullivan not only talks about the music, which you will get a broad sampling of here, but we also talk about life in independent films, and what it was like to finally work with horror great Robert Englund in "2001 Maniacs." Also, just days after the passing of composer Joel Goldsmith, Michael talks with David Read, one of the GateWorld founders that had interviewed and met the man behind the music more than once over the years. It was a life cut far too short.
