The Alvarado sisters
A conversation with Roxanna and Elsa Alvarado, sisters and the daughters of Nicaraguan immigrants who stablished in Queens, NYC, almost 30 years ago. Both are doing amazing in representing the success of Latinos in the United States. Focusing on the importance of the family, this episode is all about the support Latinos get from their own homes. Elsa was appointed by Presiden Biden at the age of 24 as the youngest director at the Pentagon. She's an Schwarzman Scholar alumna with a Master's degree in Global Affairs with a specialty in U.S-China relations from Tsinghua University, Beijing. Roxanna is a Sophomore Biology student at Middlebury College, in Vermont and was awarded the 2022 Hispanic Scholarship Fund. She started applying for scholarships aiming to help reduce the tuition her parents would have to pay for her to get a degree.
