In this episode John O'Brien & Steven Pienaar will join David the Host and Eyong Enoh to talk about de Dutch Cup in season 2001/2002. Both players experienced that season from a different angle. El Ghazi: 'Enoh, I was so afraid to get near you'
This episode of the Ajax Podcast focuses on our start in the UEFA Europa League. Part one of the two-legged match with Lille will be played on French soil on Thursday. Who better to join us in our look ahead than Anwar El Ghazi? The winger who was active for both clubs and also played in the Europa League for Ajax. For El Ghazi, this was something of a reunion with former Ajax player Eyong Enoh, now co-host of the Ajax Podcast. The two did not play together in Amsterdam, but did meet each other as opponents. The conversation quickly turned to the match Standard Luik – Ajax (1-1) in December 2016, in which then Ajax player El Ghazi played a leading role. Andre Onana once referred to Eyong Enoh as his 'second father.' If anyone is fit to give advice to the goalkeeper, it's his fellow countryman. Enoh is the current co-host of the Ajax Podcast and was the first Cameroonian player to play for Ajax, back in 2008. Enoh is proud to see Onana follow in his footsteps. What better reason to bring the two of them together than for our special Christmas episode of the Ajax Podcast. This week, we discuss their relationship with Ajax, their home country, and the mutual bond they share. There's also a nice surprise in store for the boys, as well presenter David the Host. Zlatan’s Ajax Years (1/2)
It’s 2001. Rafael van der Vaart has just broken through at Ajax. Co Adriaanse is the coach and Leo Beenhakker is responsible for the technical side of things. In that summer, Ajax also brought in some new, relatively unknown players: Maxwell, Mido, Hatem Trabelsi. And there is a young star from Sweden: Zlatan Ibrahimovic is his name. In this podcast, guest presenter Sam van Raalte covers the Swede’s first years in Amsterdam for Ajax. He speaks with Priscilla Janssen who helped guide new, young players as well as team manager David Endt and players like Maxwell and Nikos Machlas. More than enough reason for us to make a special Danish episode of the Ajax Podcast in the run up to the team's UEFA Champions League game with FC Midtjylland, and, as Eyong Enoh put it, to highlight the ‘Ajax Dansk Romance’.
