Season 2 Episode 13 - The Square Shaped Room
This week it's all about style and interior design. Lou wants to redecorate his living room as a surprise for his wife while she's away at a fat farm (yeah, we know). But he can't do it alone, so he enlists Mary's help in finding a designer, and she just so happens to know the perfect person for the job — Rhoda. Styles clash and needs aren't perfectly met, but the simplest solutions turn out to be the best fixes. Meanwhile, we chat about ... well, interior design. And it wouldn't be an episode of After All if we didn't toss gender roles, socially-imposed stereotypes, and a whole lot of cultural dissection into the mix. Season 2 Episode 12 - Is A Friend In Need
This week's episode, originally recorded *checks watch* last June(?!), definitely reads differently in our current climate. Rhoda is unceremoniously fired from her job and spends a week loafing around, mildly depressed, on Mary's couch. Mary tries to be encouraging but winds up not pushing her at all to find a new job, whereas Phyllis leans into the tough love approach with little self-awareness. In the end, she finds the perfect job and everything's great! Meanwhile, the conversation in this particularly digressive episode, Ariel talks about the life-changing impact of losing a job that crushes your soul, the scary reality of working as a full-time freelancer in our current (read, 2019) economy, and how hard it can be to bounce back from being fired. Oh, Ariel also "guilts" Silvia over an idiom. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at @AfterAllPodcast, or shoot us an email at afterallpodcast@gmail.com. Logo design by Julia Monson

Season 2 Episode 11 - The Six-And-A-Half Year Itch
It only took us 9 months but we're back with some banked episodes from last year, before ... well, everything. This week, Lou finds out something unsettling about his favourite son-in-law — he was planning on cheating on his wife, Lou's daughter, and having an affair. This episode discusses the various issues with toxic masculinity of the day, including the presentation of adultery as a kind of right of passage and proof of machismo. We talk about sex, mutual pleasure, and so much more! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at @AfterAllPodcast, or shoot us an email at afterallpodcast@gmail.com. Logo design by Julia Monson

Season 2 Episode 9 - And Now, Sitting In For Ted Baxter
And we're back! After what felt like forever, but was really seven months, we are back! Unfortunately, life just got in the way at the tail end of last year and the beginning of this one, so we had to take a bit of a personal leave of absence. But now we're back with a missing episode! Back in November it turned out we were missing episode 9. Something went wrong with the recording, and more than half of it was just gone. So, now we've gone back and re-recorded that episode for you! Episode 9 "And Now, Sitting In For Ted Baxter" exposes the truth about why Ted never takes vacation: he knows he sucks at his job and doesn't want to be replaced. What should be a beautiful teaching moment for him just seems to reinforce his more negative traits, but we're along for the ride to dig into it. Along the way we touch on tokenism - in our cases both as women and as Jewish people - poorly-chosen comments from the Editor-in-Chief of the Atlantic, abortion bans, and what happens when only men are allowed in the room. There's a lot to chew on this week, so tune in, sit back, and enjoy! Season 2 Episode 10 - Don't Break The Chain
This week is all about superstition! Lou sends a chain letter to everyone in the WJM office, and Mary is tempted to trash the thing and break the chain. Lou, however, guilts her into keeping up with it. Through this, she has the great misfortune of being reconnected with a man from hers - and Rhoda's - past: Armand Linton! Through Mr. Linton's heinous codependence, we discuss bad dates, the many fish (and 14 billion pounds of trash) in the sea, the do's and don'ts of dating etiquette, and much more. Season 2 Episode 8 - Thoroughly Unmilitant Mary

Season 2 Episode 7 - Didn't You Used To Be ... Wait ... Don't Tell Me
Mary reluctantly attends her high school reunion, only to find the obnoxious Howard Arnell in attendance, and herself at the mercy of former classmates' ire. Meanwhile, Rhoda tags along in the hopes of finding a man. Shoes are removed, socks have holes - it's a whole thing! So we're talking about our experiences in high school, what high school reunions are really like, and how truly disconcerting it is that Rhoda finds no value in her life without a man. We discuss women being held responsible for men's actions, Mad Men, Good Girls Revolt, and Michelle McNamara. All this and so much more in this fully-loaded episode! Season 2 Episode 6 - Cover Boy
In Cover Boy, Ted's brother comes to town. But their relationship is complicated and full of insecurity and resentment on both sides. Meanwhile, we discuss sibling rivalry, the difference between male and female insecurities, how we cope, and so much more! Fun Fact: Jack Cassidy, who plays Ted's brother Hal Baxter, was actually the inspiration for Ted's character! Ida Morgenstern is back in town, and this time she's determined to make Rhoda into her best friend! Yup, matching outfits and all. So we're talking about our relationship over the years, from Ariel's teen years into adulthood (whatever that means!) Along the way, Silvia talks about her relationship with her mother, how to form good, healthy relationships with our parents, the troubled teen years and the hell they cause, and Ariel shares a traumatic story from her youth. Along the way she may or may not catch the eye of her teacher, too. Meanwhile, we talk about women working by choice, going back to school on your own dime, women working in media, and the hard parts of being a woman in a male-dominated field.  Don't forget to check us out on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, or shoot us an email at afterallpodcast@gmail.com. Mary and Rhoda decide to take a vacation to Mexico! But in the process of getting hooked up with the ultimate deals on accommodations, they fear they've been roped into becoming drug mules! Season 2 Episode 1 - The Birds and ... um ... Bess
We're back with the second season of the Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Birds and ... um ... Bess! And the second season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show is pulling no punches! It all starts off with a bang ... pun intended. After WJM-TV airs a special on sexual education and finding out your sex IQ, Mary scores incredibly high. As a result, Phyllis enlists her to help teach Bess about sex! It's an eye-opening episode, as Ariel and Silvia talk about their experiences growing up and learning about sex for the first time, the current situation with the Ontario sex ed curriculum, and that sex should be pleasurable for women ... something we can't really believe we need to say! Join us on Twitter and Facebook, and share your stories of learning about sex for the first time!  Apologies for the sound quality. We'll do better going forward, we promise! Be sure to check out the show on iTunes! Rate the show, subscribe, and write a little review to help others find us! Episode 24 - The 45-Year-Old Man
This week, Lou's job is at risk, so Mary rallies the troops to come to his aid. It takes the help of the rowdy new station owner, Wild Jack Munroe (Slim Pickens), to get Lou reinstated. All in all, it's a relatively innocuous end to the first season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. However, that doesn't stop us from making it a great end to our first season of After All: A Mary Tyler Moore Podcast! We take the opportunity to discuss some of our favourite episodes this season, what we're looking forward to in season two, and cliffhangers! Naturally, we had to talk about Dallas, and who shot J.R.? So tune in one last time this season, and we'll see you again in September!   Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, or send us an email at afterallpodcast@gmail.com. Let us know what some of your favourite moments were of season 1, what you're looking forward to most in season 2, or just say Hi! We love to hear from you! Episode 23 - Smokey The Bear Wants You
The focus this week is on none other than our favourite Rhoda Morgenstern! The new man in her life, Chuck Pelligrini, seems too good to be true; he has all kinds of free time, tons of money, strange connections ... Rhoda and Mary start to suspect he may be part of the mob. But after bringing Rhoda to meet his Godfather, Chuck confesses he's actually a former CEO who left his $30,000/year job ($185,822.11 today!) to become a forest ranger. Yep, Smokey the Bear wants Chuck! And Rhoda isn't totally sure how she feels about his new career objectives. As we discuss Chuck going back to school to fulfill his passion for forestry, Silvia discusses what she'd do if she could start all over, and Ariel shares what's really stopping her from reaching her full potential. We discuss dashed dreams, missed opportunities, how we feel about our accomplishments, and the fine art of self-sabotage. We also discuss the way we compromise in relationships for the other person, sometimes self-sacrificing along the way, and the limitations we place on ourselves as women, refraining from certain things or missing out. There's just one episode left in season 1! Next week, we wrap up, and then it's reruns until September 2018! Let us know what you're looking forward to next season, what you liked about our first season, and anything else you'd like to share! We love to hear from you! Logo design by Julia Monson. Episode 22 - A Friend in Deed
The new receptionist at WJM-TV is a "friend" from Mary's past; a sweet-as-pie woman named Twinks that Mary went to camp with ... 18 years ago! They haven't seen each other since. Until now, of course. And Twinks behaves as though not a single day had gone by, putting Mary on the spot to behave like her best friend in the world, and fill in as Maid of Honour at her wedding. Until her real best friend shows up, that is.  As we mosey through the episode, we discuss toxic friendships from our past, and the truth about friendships as adults - they're hard!  Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or shoot us an email at afterallpodcast@gmail.com. Only two more episodes left until the end of Season 1! Then it's reruns until September! Let us know what you thought of the first season, what you're looking forward to in season 2, and anything else you'd like to share! Logo design by Julia Monson. A Modern Superior Podcast

Episode 21 - The Boss Isn't Coming to Dinner
Lou and his wife, Edie, have split up. The cause? After marrying off their last of three daughters, Edie decided she wanted something more than motherhood - she went back to college! But Lou doesn't approve, not understanding what more a housewife and mother could possibly want out of life. He learns the error of his ways, but not before Ariel is utterly shocked at what comes out of his mouth. Meanwhile, Silvia recounts her life as a young newlywed at 23, not having kids until 28, and the impact of having time to yourself to grow as an individual, and time to yourselves as newlyweds to learn your new dynamic.    We're talking about the sexism of the day, how it's mostly different now, and how our privilege as white women and Canadian women in 2018 affords us certain luxuries compared to women in 1970's USA.  Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or reach out to us by email at afterallpodcast@gmail.com. Episode 20 - Hi!
Mary's mortified in this week's episode as she has to have her tonsils out. Her roommate - yep, in 1971, a tonsillectomy was an in-patient procedure - is a gruff, sassy broad whose manpanion comes by for a visit in between fights. And who is this dame with the 'tude? None other than the incomparable Pat "Urusla" Carol! Meanwhile, Silvia and Ariel talk about the realities of hospital stays, privatized medicine, US health care, and Adam Ruins Everything: Healthcare.  You can find us at @AfterAllPodcast on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and be sure to rate, review, and subscribe to the show on iTunes. Episode 19 - We Closed in Minneapolis
In this week's episode, written by the prolific Gail Parent, Murray's real ambitions come to the fore: he's been moonlighting as a playwright. With little success until now, a small local theatre has finally agreed to produce his play, as Mary and Ted star! Unlike the fantasy Murray has in his head, however, it does not do well.  Meanwhile, Ariel and Silvia are discussing long-term goals, creative aspirations, the harsh reality about creative endeavours, rejection, failure, and the significance of critical success. Episode 18 - Second Story Story
This week, Mary gets burgled ... TWICE!  What ensues is a load of shtick from two cops doing their best Abbot and Costello impression, a relentless barrage of women being referred to as "girls", and some grossly inappropriate conduct (that Rhoda, naturally, quickly puts in its place.) Along the way, Ariel and Silvia recount their own stories of being burgled, the ensuing feeling of violation, and what it takes to recover from such an incident.  It's episode 18, which means just six episodes left this season! Have a favourite moment from the show thus far? Let us know! We're also starting to take suggestions for supplemental reading and viewing until next September when we'll be back with season 2, so shoot us a message on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, or feel free to send us an email at afterallpodcast@gmail.com.
