Dr. Alan McAllister received his PhD in Physics from the University of Texas in 1991. He then went to Japan where, having set an intention to learn about magnetic fields, he wound up studying solar magnetic fields using EUV and X-ray images from the Yohkoh satellite. He later came to Boulder CO and continued to study the coronal dynamics that lead to flares, coronal, mass ejections, and eventually geomagnetic storms at both NOAA/SEC and NCAR/HAO. After about 10 years he moved on to other ways of studying energy.
