A Year from Now will be back in the spring of 2023 (hopefully) in the mean time, here's a special piece I, matthew schneeman lead producer of AYFN, made during a difficult winter last year. The night before Thanksgiving in 2021 I broke my right elbow. A car was running a red light and I braked, on my bike, and flipped over the handle bars. For the month and a half that I had a cast, which put my right hand out of commission, I wrote a song a day to see how different my composition would be if I wrote with my non-dominant hand. I thought I'd notice myself writing strange and different songs, but turns out, song writing, and thought itself, had always been strange and eerie. This is a dairy of that experiment.

This weeks' episode hovers over a happy, a wonderful, thing but a precarious thing. Jess, a woman who's been suffering from seizures for over two decades, just had a surgery that seemingly cured, or stopped her epileptic seizures. But, it was too early to tell if the procedure really had worked. It's a bit, as i said, precarious. Will Jess's seizures return? The backdrop to all of this is Jess's husband who has cared fro her, and she him, all this time. It's a love story so pleasant and loving that it'd make a horrible romcom because you'd have to roll credits after just five minutes. They met, they fell in love, they do fun stuff. Romana Rattler from Pipestone Minnesota was in a relationship with a man locked up in South Carolina for years and when he got out he said he didn't want a 'long distance relationship.' Romona, heart broken but not stupid, let the guy go. Besides, with her grandkids, troubled son, and a trailer park to manage she didn't have room for anyone that flakey anyway.
