With all the chaos and instability lately I've been thinking a lot about forgiveness. We all know that we should forgive, it's the totally noble thing to do, but it's also hard as hell. It can feel like a double edged sword, that in forgiving we're actually forgetting. Or that it simply isn't the wisest or safest thing to do. But with studies now proving that forgiveness can lead to happier and healthier lives it is absolutely worth digging deeper into. This is a gigantic subject but there are a few core pillars that make the process of forgiveness possible. I just had the most jaw dropping realization. We are almost half way through 2018. How the hell did that happen? That thought made me take a serious pause and reflect on where I am compared with where my expectations were for this year. And I definitely have some work to do. Which is why today I wanted to talk about how good you’re willing to let your life get. Because we all have a set point for how much happiness we can handle before we sabotage it. I know that sounds backwards…but think about it. The last time you had an incredibly wonderful thing happen and you welled up with joy…how long did that good feeling last before the ball dropped? You know, someone cut you off in traffic, or you reeled back to the past in some heavy memory, or you started stressing out about the future – and cut yourself off from that amazing feeling and back into the zone of comfortably blah.
