Finally, we are back with a new episode of the Denver Nuggets podcast - the 5280 Hoops Show. Peter Sherwill holds down solo hosting duties in the first new episode since February.  In that time, we have had over 2200 downloads despite no new episodes. I want to thank you for all of your support. Since this was the first episode since the end of the Denver Nuggets season, we spend some time discussing where the team went wrong and when they should have gone into "tank mode." There are a few thoughts on how the Nuggets should handle this offseason, specifically on draft night.  Also, in honor of this being the first season since 2003 that the Nuggets missed the playoffs, we are only playing music from 2003 during break. The NBA All-Star game is coming up and we are heavy in skills challenge talk with Damian Lillard's historic attempt at all five events during NBA All-Star Weekend. During the FastBreaks segment we discuss the Chris Kaman memes and get excited at the Dunk Contest competitors since it is the best in many years. Plus, how tough is Nate Robinson for tearing his ACL and then RUNNING off the court? The Denver Nuggets went 2-2 this week with a home loss to the Toronto Raptors, followed by home wins over the Los Angeles Clippers on a buzzer-beating, game-winning shot by Randy Foye and a decisive victory over the NBA-worst Milwaukee Bucks. The Nuggets traveled to New York on Friday night to face the Knicks and Carmelo Anthony. We talk about the Nuggets season-ending injuries to Robinson and Danilo Gallinari plus the revelation this week that JaVale McGee could end up being out for the rest of the season. Andre Miller is STILL technically a member of this team and Brian Shaw says the organization is not reaching out to him. We also look at playoff odds as the Hollinger odds say the Nuggets have an 11% chance of making the playoffs at this point. Up next we go Around the Association and talk about Andrew Bynum signing with the Indiana Pacers and how this makes them the favorite to win the East. We also get a Knicks Pick update. We are back for a second season of this Denver Nuggets podcast with the 5280 Hoops Show. We are coming to you a little earlier than normal this week.  The Denver Nuggets have now won more games in a row than they ever have as an NBA franchise, clinched the playoffs and currently sit as the number 3 seed in the Western Conference Playoffs.  When will this streak end?  Peter and Justin have some differing philosophies on that this week.  We’ve got some post-game audio from Andre Iguodala, FastBreaks, expectations for this historic Nuggets team, Peter goes off on a rant and also a new segment from Justin for this week called “My Bad.”

The return of Carmelo Anthony finally happened this week.  Justin and Peter break down this blow out and whether the media has the right to tell fans how to act at games as well as the great win with playoff implications on Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies bringing the Denver Nuggets winning streak to 11 games for their longest winning streak in 30 years!  We talk about how far this team might take the streak and the possible playoff match-ups.  Plus FastBreaks, a listener’s question and the winner of the autographed Kenyon Martin jersey is revealed!

March Madness continues at the 5280 Hoops Show this week with the upcoming return of Carmelo Anthony to Denver for the first time.  Justin and Peter have a little debate on how Nuggets fans should react to Melo on Wednesday night at Pepsi Center. Peter also shares an interesting take on Masai Ujiri’s comments that the Denver Nuggets are not a contender.

March Madness is just around the corner but it may have set in here at the 5280 Hoops Show a little early…  Justin and Peter jump right in with FastBreaks and later break down the Nuggets upcoming schedule and talk about raising the expectations for this team after an article that came out this week.
