United We Stand In Beauty And Love
Today I want you to embrace cultural differences and to celebrate with me the strength and beauty of my culture. I'm so excited to have Dr. Renee Hilliard, a friend but also a physician who's practiced ob-gyn for the past 20 years. She helped people who've gone through traumatic experiences. Todays, podcast highlight: 1. What is Dr. Renee's perspective on what’s going on in the world today? 2. Did we've come any further in kind of that aesthetic industry and really looking at the skin of color as a whole? 3. What people are going through out there that we don't know? 4. How does someone know that they are traumatized in some way? 5. What are some of your own secrets when it comes to beauty and skincare 6. What is Dr. Renee superpower What is Dr. Renee's perspective on what’s going on in the world today? I had to make that difficult choice of deciding what I wanted to do with my own. I stop looking for external validation which was a process that was a journey. Did we've come any further in kind of that aesthetic industry and really looking at the skin of color as a whole ? Luckily economics drove that development of, you know, this range of products being available and for the most part, it's much more available. What people are going through out there that we don't know? There are discrepancies in my experience, both in the workplace, you know, not being treated fairly, those kinds of things, but also in dating. I realized that you know, the disease causes disease. The root of the problem is really going to the root of the beliefs that you're holding that are causing. How does someone know that they are traumatized in some way? I think it's hard to walk through the world as a woman without accumulating microtrauma just because women are not seen as valuable in society as men. Erica Martin, a senior education manager at SkinCeuticals. We talked about tips, treatments, and best products to prevent and reverse sun-damaged. Here are some of the highlights of our Podcast interview: What do people need to know about returning outside? Tips on how you personally incorporate sunscreen on your daily routine. Tips in reading a sunscreen label. Is it recommended to put sunscreen first in your routine? What are the best selling sun products from SkinCeuticals? What are the tops 1-2 treatments that you recommend to patients to treat sun damage? What Kat uses to have amazing skin. What do people need to know about returning outside after spending more time than usual indoors Dr. Sonia: The skin stressors were reduced when staying indoors. You wanna wear sunscreen every day to really protect the screen even when indoors every single day. There is an incidental UV radiation that enters into or at home. Dry weather dries your indoor air causing dry skin and breakouts. Kat: I have to be extra religious with my sunscreen rituals. Erica: I just wanted to add, think also about using antioxidants. Using vitamin C antioxidant that’s properly formulated every day that can offer you some prevention about damage and it has a hydrating effect. Do you have any tips, on how you personally incorporate sunscreen on your daily routine? Erica: I like tinted sunscreen, I feel like when If I’m applying that kinda makes me feel that I getting cooler and getting that complexion correction. Kat: Using sunscreen is non-negotiable. Dr. Sonia: There are two different sunscreens: Chemical and Physical paste. They have pros and cons for both of them. We still recommend either chemical versus Physical paste. The best is the one that works for you at the end of the day. The younger generations use tanning beds, it is the most harmful UV rays that damage your skin and worst skin cancer. Other tips in reading a sunscreen label I recommend broad-spectrum, SPF 30 or higher. There is a potential of blue lights from electronics like phones that can cause skin aging and pigmentation issues. Do you recommend putting sunscreen first in your routine? Dr. Sonia: Cleanse your face first then thinner serum and the last step is a shield with sunblock.
