#44 - Redefining Norms of Expression at Work
What is acceptable when it comes to honesty, truth, and expression in professional settings? How much can you "be yourself" and express your values and beliefs to coworkers, leadership, and company culture at large? These are the questions I asked myself in the past 2.5 years working in corporate and for a mid-size media company until I recently quit to go off on my own.The truth is, the bar is pretty damn low for what we deem acceptable because of how much we've calibrated to the least comfortable person in the room. What we think is too much might actually be normal levels of dialogue and honesty. In this episode, Bella shares her personal journey in breaking the rules of expression in her career and raising the bar on what integrity looks like. Themes + Learnings: How political agendas have taken over the advertising industry How media agencies force digital publishers to moderate content and promote censorship The neighborhood vegan effect The positive consequences of telling the truth and being authentic at work Bella's experience expressing her values and beliefs around free will at work Honest expression without expectation If you enjoy the episode, share it with a friend and give the show a rating!Rate on Apple PodcastsRate on SpotifyLINKS Join The BS Complex Patreon! #43 - The Art of Forgiveness & Letting Go
In this solo episode, Bella explores the depths of RELEASING resentment, anger, and bitterness and why it will free your mind, body, and soul. Forgiveness and letting go have many social, cultural, historical, and even scientific contexts that help us understand how our conditioning may play into whether or not we want to release negative emotions. Listen to learn about these contexts, my personal experience with letting go, and ways that you can move toward the mind-body freedom that comes from releasing, too. "Forgiveness and letting go require you to feel something empathetic toward a human you’re convinced is incredibly undeserving… Yet giving it anyway." (read more here)Themes + Learnings: My personal story behind learning to forgive despite my ego holding onto hardship The religious and spiritual themes interwoven with forgiveness Visualizations and thought processes for letting go Why over-identifying with hardship is breeding lingering resentment in your body Western culture's lack of forgiveness and discouragement of letting go Zen Buddhism's approach to detachment Connect with Me:Read the Forgiveness Essay on SubstackBella on IG100% BS on IGJoin my NewsletterSubscribe to the podcast's YouTube ChannelTry NED CBD for 15% off - code 'BELLA'Episode References:https://www.wisdomtimes.com/blog/health-benefits-of-forgiveness/https://www.amazon.com/Elements-Zen-David-Scott/dp/0760703094https://www.amazon.com/Way-Zen-Alan-W-Watts/dp/0375705104/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2GRUM1BXH9EN8&keywords=way+of+zen+alan+watts&qid=1651690401&s=books&sprefix=way+of+zen+al%2Cstripbooks%2C124&sr=1-1

#39 - Mark Groves: Can You Dance with Dissonance?
The past 2 years (almost to the date) have been a time of extreme polarity, discomfort, and most of all, some of the deepest levels of dissonance we've witnessed in ourselves and society. The stories we've been sold and the truth within us feel completely at odds. Unable to have dialogue, resistant to conflict, afraid to step into nuance, concerned for our wellbeing and our place in society - there's enough to make you never want to ruffle any feathers ever again. But what if you could face the disarray? What if you can lean into the confusion stirring inside of you as the world, your relationships, and your Self are faced with a crumbling of what we think we know?To dance with dissonance is to allow ourselves to expand beyond binaries, identities, labels, and fear of the other.Mark Groves is a Human Connection Specialist, founder of Create the Love and Mine'd and host of the Mark Groves Podcast. In other words, he's a speaker, writer, motivator, creator and collaborator. Mark's work bridges the academic and the human, inviting people to explore the good, the bad, the downright ugly, and the beautiful sides of connection. His purpose? To empower individuals to step into their power, transform the way they relate to themselves and others, and create authentic change for a life + love they’ll look back on with a resounding “f*ck yes!Mark's Links:www.createthelove.comwww.instagram.com/createthelovewww.instagram.com/itsmarkgroves/www.markgroves.doyoumined.comBella's Links:www.instagram.com/bellasolanotwww.instagram.com/100.bs.podcast/https://bellasolanot.com/https://bellasolanot.substack.com/Let's keep the conversation going! #35 - Facing Reality, Finding Truth, and Confronting Darkness: 5 Lessons from 2021
We're back, baby! This episode dives deeper into 5 of the 25 lessons & learnings I shared on Instagram earlier this month on my birthday. A huge theme of 2021 was facing reality, as it is, in all its glory and darkness - to embrace its complexity. The 5 lessons & learnings from 2021 are:1. You are not responsible for changing anyone’s mind but your own.  Imposing your will and your views on others is a complete disrespect of their path2. Let people be wrong.3. People who say “believe science” do not know what they are talking about.4. If you wish to know the truth, sit in silence and write what you hear.5. Most people cannot accept the existence of darkness in the world because they have shamed and ignored the darkness inside of them.Tune in for my explanation of these lessons and why they are important takeaways for moving into 2022. #34 - Lindsey Simcik: Creating Balanced and Authentic Relationships
Lindsey Simcik from Almost30 on the pod! This conversation was so very cozy and grounded —  covering relationships, becoming heart-led, the ways we can tune up our sense of self, and how creativity can be harnessed. I loved how Lindsey spoke about her engagement while respecting her privacy and boundaries set around what is shared and what is kept for just her and her partner. In diving into relationships, we discuss the energetics of having so many other people involved and the public spectacle that is normalized for engagements. Lindsey brought calm energy that helped us to express our own experiences in relationships, both romantic and platonic, as well as uncover the aspects of relationships that suffer from inauthenticity and outsourcing our needs to another person. Finally, we share what it means to cultivate creative flow and create room for your talents. Lindsey shares her journey in producing music and the ways that she gets out of her own way in order to let her gifts shine through. If you enjoyed this episode, why not share it with a friend! #33 - Alec Zeck: You Are Free By Virtue of Existing
100% BS is joined by one of the most censored people on the internet and simultaneously, one of the kindest and most compassionate people I’ve ever spoken to. Alec Zeck is the Founder and Executive Director of Health Freedom for Humanity and is an outspoken advocate for freedom, body autonomy, and empowering people from all walks of life to take ownership of their wellness and freedom. He is also a husband, father, West Point grad, and Army Veteran.  Summary: This episode explores the profound changes that COVID has had on the individual and collective – spanning from eerie levels of censorship, unthinkable invasions of privacy, tribalism, inability to see truth, divisiveness, and how it distills into every individual involved. In a world plagued by so many complex issues, Alec and I attempt to break down how you can positively impact others while respecting their path and process. We formulate the way to embody love and compassion for all, how to make sense of tragedy and darkness, and why the Universe is balanced in everything it does – which means you are balanced, too. Finally, Alec shares solutions as a way to move forward.  In a particularly impactful moment, Alec explains what “you are free by virtue of existing” means and why standing in that freedom as a man or woman will yield beautiful outcomes beyond imagination. Key Points: ·      Alec’s crazy censorship story (deleted over 7 times) ·      How to change peoples’ minds and get people to trust themselves ·      Ways to reclaim your inherent power ·      How the governments’ mandates are enforced via the people ·      Law of One explanation including Service to Self vs Service to Others ·      How the Law of One applies to COVID, mandates, and power dynamics ·      Why turning people back to themselves is the key to embodied transformation ·      Why the road to changing someone’s mind is found through their heart ·      Behind the scenes of the Health Freedom Symposium    Alec Links: Donate to HFFHHFFH Podcast (Top 50 Health & Wellness)The Way Forward PodcastTheWayFwrd Telegram Shop The Way Forward   Bella Links: Bella on IG 100% BS on IG Join my NewsletterWatch this episode on YouTube Writing on Substack

#32 - Krista Williams: Where Is Your Ego Hiding?
100% BS is joined by the wonderful Krista Williams from the Almost30 podcast. It was an honor to speak with such an eloquent and wise woman about the upward trend in consciousness, the ego-driven desire to evangelize, and the ways that we can come to terms with good/evil and right/wrong as necessary to our existence. By exploring the places that your ego likes to hide, Krista helps you find ways to come back to yourself and the simple truth of oneness. In pondering how we outsource our power to big corporations, we find that the common behavior of performing for approval is one that emulates the way brands market their virtues simply to benefit the bottom line —  and in turn, pacifies the darker deeds happening behind the scenes. How does one dismantle the ego-driven desire to change people’s minds? How do we approach conversations about taboos and extremes without endorsing those ideas? And why does censorship contribute to disempowering people? #31 - Right vs Wrong: We Don't Really Know
This solo episode ponders the question, "how do you really know the difference between right and wrong?". By looking at moral dilemmas, paradoxes, and practical examples of figuring out right and wrong, Bella comes to the conclusion that it's not black and white -- many perceptions of right and wrong and merely just perceptions that change with context, history, timing, and peer pressure. If you can let go of our preconceived beliefs and opinions for a short time, you open up the opportunity to consider viewpoints that you may have shut out before in an effort to be approved or seen as "good". So what happens if you place approval first before openness and willingness to offend in the pursuit of truth? That's what we're trying to figure out.The conclusion that may make you uncomfortable: most of our strongly held beliefs might be created from peer pressure and the desire to be loved and accepted rather than thorough analysis using the instrument of Self. But what if we can change that?
