Episode 8: Building a Globally Viable Canadian Company
Hey everyone! Welcome to the ventureLAB podcast, where we bring you interviews with our successful tech companies, and topics that help innovative companies grow. This month we’re on the theme of Capital and what it means to grow a tech company in Canada.
My name is Emily Milling. I’m the Manager of Marketing and Communications at ventureLAB and your host for this show.
In this episode, we hear from Karna Gupta, chair of the ventureLAB board of directors. Karna has a rich history of building tech companies in Canada, from Certicom to ITAC, and his work as an advisor through ventureLAB. But I’ll let him introduce himself in a minute! This interview comes from our monthly event series focused on Capital, Talent and Tech, led by ventureLAB President and CEO Jeremy Laurin.
I’m going to change up the format of the podcast again, and instead of having an interview with one of our companies at the end of this episode I’m going to release an extra show two weeks from now. I had the opportunity to interview Courtney Cole, founder of ForaHealthyMe, and he has so many great new things happening with his company I thought it would be fun to dedicate an episode to him.
That’ll be out in a few weeks but for now here’s Jeremy Laurin’s interview with Karna Gupta on the topic of Capital.
We have a few sessions coming up on raising capital with one of our Venture Services advisors, Chris Cory. Register here: https://venturelab.ca/event/investment-pitch-clinic/
We’ll be back in two weeks with my interview with Courtney Cole from ForaHealthy Me. Next month we have an event on Talent with the founder of Nulogy, a company that grew from 5 to almost 200 people in just a few short years. Interested in attending the event in person? Check out our events calendar at ventureLAB.ca/events.
