Overly-Dramatic and full of herself
Host tries too hard to be overly-dramatic. Sure, she knew Tara as a teen [also, weird that she would use a photo of bound & gagged children as her cover art - some friend] so did two thousand other people. Does not discuss the young boy in the photo purportedly with her, possibly ignoring a valuable clue. Lastly, host too full of herself, thinks her investigative powers are so strong her family might be in danger! Give me a break!

The host of VANISHED The Tara Calico Investigation was transparent and honest about taking her inspiration from other true crime and unsolved mystery podcasts. While it is admirable that she is clear about her lack of investigative experience/journalism - that aspect also ends up being the weakest element of this show. At best the podcast feels meandering and almost directionless. The episodes are inconsistent in length and the update schedule is erratic. The production value does need some work (though I forgive anyone for not having amazing audio quality when they are just starting out) but more importantly, there are elements of the story that almost feel sensationalized by the host. There have been hints of things to come that tease of danger or major revelations, yet the lack of a clear narrative make these mentions feel flat and pointless. I WANTED to like this show. The case is interesting. The show COULD be engaging, but I think that the novice hosting and writing make it a difficult listen at best.
