Is fruit healthy? This is a question I get a lot, hopefully this podcast will distill some of the confusion. Fruit is not inherently unhealthy, much like a chocolate brownie. It all comes down to the amount consumed and the type of fruit. Fruit should be viewed as a sweet treat and should be moderated in the same way you would with a brownie. Choose organic versions of fruits such as berries, high in phytonutrients and lower in fructose. Limit portions of high sugar fruits that don’t have the same level of vitamins and minerals. Think of your ‘5 a day’ as 5 portions of Veg with maybe 1 of fruit, not 5 a day as 5 bananas. Enjoy!
