"Florence is the happiest place on earth."Well, Disneyland might be the more well known happiest place but we hear from locals that Florence could give it a run for its money.

We got a chance to visit with Florence Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Bettina Hannigan, and she gave us the inside scoop on how to make the most of your time while you're in town.

A leisurely lunch along the river in Old Town, a thrill-seeking dune buggy ride, or a spectacular hike are ready to go when you are.  There is so much to do in Florence, you won't be able to do everything in just one day so plan at least a few days and a return trip to finish what you missed.

There are incredible hikes and trails for all ages and activity levels.  Check out the Hobbit Trail and you'll find yourself first surrounded by the enchantment of the forest and then rewarded at the end by a beautiful beach.  If the tide is out, explore the multitude of tide pools and count how many creatures you can see.  For incredible photos that will make your Facebook friends jealous, be sure to visit the Heceta Head Lighthouse and take your time soaking up the gorgeous views or even taking a tour to learn more about its colorful history.

If you're looking to kick it into high gear, a dune buggy adventure will deliver some serious adrenaline-inducing good times.  An aerial tour via helicopter or bi-plane will treat you to a birds eye view of the 60 miles of breathtaking coastline.  If you're looking to try something a little different, check out sandboarding.  Yep, it's like snowboarding but on sand.  We hear that it's an absolute blast and we can't wait to get back to Florence to take a lesson and start shredding the dunes.

Sea Lion Caves is a wildlife preserve and bird sanctuary that provides an educational, yet fun way to learn more about these warm-blooded mammals.  This is one of those activities that everyone in the family will enjoy.

As the summer comes to an end, start planning your vacations for next year!  Check out the full list of events and festivals hosted in Florence.  There's something for everyone.  The annual Rhododendron Festival held the 3rd weekend in May is jam-packed with spectacular flowers, music, arts, vendors, and a carnival that will make you wish every weekend was Rhody Days.

We told you that you wouldn't be able to fit everything in so make sure you reserve a spot at any one of the great accommodation options in town.  Whether you're looking at spending a quiet weekend at the beach, or you have a family reunion that includes multiple generations, Florence has accommodations to fit all party sizes.

Don't forget that Florence is a dog-friendly town so if your pooch loves to vacation with you, they're more than welcome to hang out too.

Have a great time in Florence and we can't wait to hear about your favorite moments.
