Astro Teller, CEO of X - How to Think 10x Bigger

This is a very short, roughly 10-minute, episode. It explains how to 10x your thinking and your goals, or -- put another way -- how to escape incremental thinking and think truly BIG. I loved it so much that I now listen to it on a regular basis as a reminder. Perhaps you'll end up doing the same. The speaker is Dr. Astro Teller (@astroteller). Astro is currently Captain of Moonshots (CEO) of X, Alphabet's moonshot factory for building magical, audacious ideas that, through science and technology, can be brought to reality. Astro is also co-founder and a current Director of Cerebellum Capital, a hedge fund management firm whose investments are continuously designed, executed, and improved by a software system based on techniques from statistical machine learning. Astro was also the co-founder and CEO of BodyMedia, Inc., a leading wearable body monitoring company that was sold to Jawbone in 2013.Dr. Teller holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Stanford University, Master of Science in symbolic and heuristic computation, also from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence from Carnegie Mellon University, where he was a recipient of the prestigious Hertz fellowship. It was recorded as part of A360, a high-end membership group run by past podcast guest and Founder and Chairman of The XPRIZE Foundation, Peter Diamandis. For more on A360 and its digital version (Abundance Digital), please visit Diamandis.com and look under "Memberships."This episode is brought to you by LegalZoom. Tim Ferriss will change your life!
I've been following Tim since the 4 Hour Work Week and have given out over 15 copies of his book the 4 Hour Body. Tim's approach to maximizing your potential is invaluable and life changing. In addition to that, he takes the time to provide a FREE podcast with interviews of influential people the majority of us would never have the pleasure of meeting. The format of the podcast makes the listener feel as if they are having drinks with old time friends and makes the overall experience insightful and entertaining. You should also check out The Random Show episodes on YouTube with Kevin Rose.....love these guys!!

Each one is a goldmine.
If you are familiar with Tim Ferriss from his 4 Hour Work week, Body and Chef best sellers, you'll have some idea what you are in for here. What makes these podcasts really compelling is partly the cadre of the interviewees, and partly Tim's deft questioning. He asks the obvious questions, the deep questions and knows when to say nothing to tease great insight out of his guests. I've listened to the first 5 so far, and expanded my knowledge of a wide range of subjects including meditation, stoic philosophy (I never thought I could get into philosophy!), marketing, startup wisdom and more. Plus I've got some great suggestions for follow on reading that are now sitting on my Kindle. Bravo, Tim.

Best podcast out there
Others are better produced, better planned, more consistent. But none are as interesting. I like being able to listen in on these conversations that Tim has with his guests. It is a kind of a joke whenever Tim introduces one of his "good friends" that just happens to be a player in Silicone Valley or the finance or publishing worlds. We all get a snarky little chuckle when he says it. But I for one wish I could say the same. I'm not part of that world, so I can't. But for about an hour, I get to sit in on the conversation as if I were a part of this private club. That's why this podcast is so popular.

Squeezing the juice out of life!
Before I came across Tim's work I'd heard his name many times, usually in the sentence "you must have read the 4 hour work week", which at the time I had not. I'd always thought of myself as a 'jack of all trades' because I loved to learn new things across psychology, business, music, technology, spirituality and more. Then when I found Tim - I realised that there are others out there who have the spirit of a multi-potentialite, and love to learn and share across many subjects. The Tim Ferris Show is one of the few podcasts I listen to and every episode reminds me why I love it and teaches me something new or introduces me to another kindred spirit.

Tim will hate my rating but...
Tim has a thing against 5 star ratings, as they often don't give any room for improvement. However, it's clear that Tim has produced the ultimate companion to his other publications in the Tim Ferriss show. He frequently brings out the insights in his guests that other interviews cannot find. Coupled with Tim's willingness to experiment with new formats on every episode, the listener can be guaranteed that they will learn from each episode. Whether it's an interview, or an essay commentary, the listener is always kept on their toes in ways to process the information that Tim is sending, and apply it to their everyday life.
Thanks Tim for making TFS. It's a staple in my information diet, and in the top 5 shows of its category.

Great variety of insightful information
Tim does a great job of systematically breaking things down through experience in a way where (specifically in the case of these podcasts) can get an idea of how skills or methods can be grasped through the experience of Tim and his guests who have put in the time to learn for themselves. The podcasts are as quirky and enjoyable as his books and TV episodes- I mean that in a positive sense- and I particularly would like to acknowledge that I appreciate how each podcast takes as long as is needed. If I only have time for a short podcast, I am not left hanging with the feeling that it was incomplete. If a longer podcast is selected, the format is informal but respects that Tim, guests and listeners are all busy people so there is not filler to get the recording to last to some clearly predetermined duration.

One of my favorites out there
Have learned a ton from this guy. I have lost 50 pounds and kept it off. Received a promotion and am in line for another one. Have increased my net worth, mental clarity, physical fitness, and libido (no joke). All these improvements as well as an overall spiritual awakening. Tim Ferriss, Rob Wolff, and Dave Asprey have been integral to my transformation. Today is a new day. Becoming better is achievable and accessible. You can becoming so much more than you know. It is harder and easier than you would ever imagine.

Great show, awesome guests!
I have read every book by Tim Ferriss, enjoy his blog and The Random Show, so I was very excited to hear about his plans to start a podcast. He does not disappoint, Tim brings in some great guests and he is doing a great job as a host. Every show I learned something new, and the books and resources recommended by the guests on this show are very interesting and helpfull. Episode 4 with Ryan Holiday is my favorite at the moment.
