Episode Info:

It’s more than a garden, but less than a farm. It’s a “farmden”! Our guest in this episode describes it “as a site with more plants and/or land than one person can care for sanely. A gardener and garden gone wild, out of control.” With many families embracing the philosophy of modern homesteading and self-sufficiency, I think many people have farmdens, but just didn’t have a word for it.

Lee Reich, PhD

Lee Reich, is a scientist, an avid farmdener (more than a gardener, less than a farmer), and writer, most recently with the book THE EVER CURIOUS GARDENER. In addition to providing a year 'round harvest of fruits and vegetables, his farmden provides a testing ground for innovative techniques in soil care, pruning, and growing fruits and vegetables, and helps satisfy his educational mandate with workshops and training.
