Episode Info:

When was the last time you went out and played?

I bet you thought playtime was just for kids?  Well, just as kids learn through play, so can snooker players learn great technique through playing games.

Learning does not have to be boring. In fact, you are more likely to learn more about great technique in cue sports through games.

In this Q School coaching episode Rob reveals how you can vastly improve your skill in cue sports by learning through games.  Rob gives his take on the four levels of competence that you can move through to reach your snooker goals:

  1. Unconscious incompetence
  2. Conscious incompetence
  3. Conscious competence
  4. Unconscious competence

Rob shows how it is the snooker coach’s job to help their student initially into stage two and then quickly build them into a point where they are aware of what they are doing wrong in their snooker game. Finally, the coach helps the student build their skill to the point where they are competent in their cue sports without being conscious of it. Rob emphasises the importance of coaching to help you through these stages and encourages listeners to attend his masterclass at the end of March.  See the Resources section below for the link for tickets
