About This Show

Although we do this long distance; our love for discovering new books, delving into different points of view and expressing our personal opinions remains close to home.

This book is about everything!
To kick off our Evolution quarter, in this episode we discuss Bill Bryson's incredibly rich and thoroughly researched A Short History of Nearly Everything. While the author openly admits there's no way he can actually fit the history of our world and everything we know and have learned into 500 pages he does a pretty darn amazing job of covering a lot! With his easy breezy style (and often hilarious footnotes) he makes even the most complicated topics easier to digest. To give just a handful of topics he covers.... the evolution of continental drift, atomic structure, the shear size of the cosmos vs. the inconceivable tininess of the world of quantum physics, Earth's age, chemical and biological discoveries/disasters and of course many insightful background stories on revolutionary (and also lesser known) figures such as Newton, Einstein, Darwin, Halley, Marie Curie, Cavendish, Thomas Midgley, among many others. Basically... a must-read if you're looking for anything within the realm of science history (or generally a awesome book!) As we mention in the episode if you've lost touch with a friend or family member that you've always wanted to re-connect with again have a peak at our Get Back in Touch (GBT) Worksheet that may be a stepping stone to reaching out to that person...
