I’ve listened to every episode so far (7 episodes). Considering Sword & Scale is such an amazing well thought out podcast, and is undoubtedly my favorite of all time, I had higher expectations for this. I get that it’s a chit/chat opinion type of podcast (which I also generally enjoy) but I don’t feel like anything they say is interesting, or that they’re making any meaningful or entertaining observances. This one is a miss for me, and I also find their voices annoying, but maybe I will give it another try in the future...

Not so good!
I thought there were going to be updates or something different, I was mistaken. This is literally just their opinion on cases, including the original narrator. Same audio from Sword and Scale, ummm I already listened to that! I understand that this is the beginning, I'm hopeful that it will change.

Overlooking the fundamental grating nature of both voices, the repetitive "as a mom" point of view, and entitled nature of their opinions, the content is non existent. Not only does this not add a thing to the original story, they often get factual information incorrect. I love Sword and Scale and am shocked that Mike hasn't pulled the plug on this as it is only bringing down his brand.

I love Sword & Scale, so I was really looking forward to this podcast. The hosts are not that engaging and difficult to listen to. I just had to unsubscribe.
Their most recent episode showed up in the Sword & Scale feed. So, I tried going in with an open mind and give it a try again. I couldn’t even listen to the whole thing. One of the ladies couldn’t get some facts right (do they even listen to the show?) What got me most was the hosts (including Mike Boudet) laughing at a comment from a 911 call. It was in very poor taste and I was disappointed in all of them.
I guess if you want a lighthearted look at true crime, this might be the show for you. I was hoping it would get better with time, but it is still unlistenable. Don’t waste your time.

Overall pretty good but has some low points
The good - Getting updates on the cases. Learning new facts left out of the original episode. Sometimes can make you laugh or will vocalize exact emotions I felt when listening.
The bad - For some of the more extreme, ugly, and outrageous cases they butcher. They make bad jokes, miss huge marks, and just don't get into pertinent information that I am sure the listeners would love to hear. I.e. Episode 20, the luka episode, and the bus episode... there was so much content on those episodes and their show just didn't go where I felt it needed.
Episode 42 was bothersome. Mostly for their repeated "deep south" comments. Bastrop/Giddings is about 30 miles from Austin, Texas. The capital of the state. It is not in the middle of nowhere deep south. It is a pretty significant city.

This is not intended to be an update with new info on specific cases, this is just kind of digging in, chatting about the episode with some girlfriends, Lynette & Stephanie. If you don't like chatty podcasts, this isn't for you. If you love these ladies' sense of humor from their other podcast, For Cryin' Out Loud, this is an entertaining podcast. Sound quality is excellent and it has some structure, not just wandering all around without making a point. Please give it a try!

I am so happy about this podcast!
I have been listening to Lynette and Stefanie for years on their amazing podcast - For Crying Out Loud. I feel like I am soul mates with them both and they are inside my mind. I was so thrilled when they announced this show Sword and Scale Rewind because I often am not able to listen to the original episodes of S & S because I easily get creeped out. But, so often after listening to Rewind, I will go back and listen to the original episode of S & S. I especially love when the reenact parts of the audio and I thoroughly enjoy their sense of humor. I appreciate their opinions of each and every show. If you are expecting to get someone similar to Mike Boudet, you will be disappointed for sure.
With podcasts, it can take some time to warm up to new voices because you don't know them yet. Give Lynette and Stefanie a chance and you will be so happy that you did!
