The brothers are hitting the trails in this episode of the Sumo Survival Bushcraft Podcast.
This edition is very outdoors orientated as the guys get together to chat and answer questions.
This month Sy runs us through the differences between grid and magnetic North and shares some map and compass techniques that you really should know before hitting the hills, moors and mountains of the UK.
This month we have been sent quite a few questions from listeners from within the bushcraft community. Topics include Scotland’s zero tolerance policy on knives and why it should be publicised more to visitors, the mystery of why a outdoors school is saying that campfires are no longer required, a bivi bag deal that can’t be missed and whoopee slings explained for the novice hammock camper.
We also have some advice from listener Alex following on from our last episode when we spoke about reducing sotting caused by burning meths in Triangia style burners.
Luke from Bolton shares a warning with us about a campfire tipped pot holder which fails when exposed to the heat of a fire.
Kit of the month
Sean and Sy talk about the kit that have really shone through since out last episode. Sean talks about why the humble British Armed Forces ’58 pattern water bottle and mug has really proven itself in the recent heatwave and Sy share his experience of the Fjallraven Kaipak 58 rucksack.
