Episode Info: Our Basis for Giving Determines our Emotions   When the government forces us to pay taxes, it's a form of giving that's involuntary. When you file your annual income tax report and calculate how much you owe, it's a form of involuntary giving. Because it's forced upon us, the emotion associated with involuntary giving is bitterness and resentment. Now consider what happens when we want to give. The pleasure received watching a loved one open a gift from us and screech with delight is hard to beat. Watching their face break into a huge smile is worth every penny you paid for the gift. Think back to the last time you went out to a restaurant with others and picked up the tab. It made you feel good. You held your head a little higher when you left. Why? Because you wanted to give your money away! It was completely voluntary. When we're forced to give, we do it grudgingly. When we freely give, we do it with a cheerful heart. Enjoy this podcast episode as I share a message I gave on our emotions surrounding giving.   When we’re FORCED to give, we do it grudgingly. When we FREELY give, we do it with a cheerful heart.
