Author Charlotte Kasl discusses her "controversial" book: MANY ROADS, ONE JOURNEY: MOVING BEYOND THE 12 STEPS. Her inclusive way of approaching addiction recovery is both tolerant and expansive which is built into the 16 steps she had spent years developing. Charlotte, also author of WOMEN, SEX & ADDICTION, shared about her years working as a counselor and talking to women. She discovered that many of the female addicts she spoke with were victims of sexual or physical abuse; where their sense of empowerment was stripped away. She also mentioned how men can also, unknowingly so, be victims of sexual abuse by older women. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Other points of discussion: • Some parts of the traditional 12 programs are antiquated• How do we navigate recovery depending upon race, gender, sexual-orientation, culture, male and female etc.• Being creative in your spiritual recovery• Love and support• Exploring various options to supplement spiritual growth and staying sober.• Those who suffer the addict• http://charlottekasl.com • __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Charlotte Karl's other works include, "If The Buddha.." series, "Finding Joy: 101 Ways to Free Your Spirit and Dance With Life", "Yes You Can: A Guide to Empowerment Groups" and more here: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/charlotte+kasl ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please subscribe and rate this podcast.
