E47: A Life on the Edge of Loss with Tara Caffelle
5 days ago
Tara Caffelle lost her ex-husband to suicide in 2015. His death was just one of four others she experienced that year. This week, we're talking about navigating a year of losses, crafting a disclaimer for your grief, and where our loved ones live in our bodies. We're also discussing Tara's brand new book, Grief: A Love Story. Also on the show, I was marinating in suicide this week after the public coverage of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain's suicides and came face-to-face with an uncomfortable truth of mine: I don't understand suicide. I'm talking about why I don't understand suicide and why it's crucial that we listen to people who are suicidal. I Never Knew I Needed...
This is the podcast I never knew I needed! I've been telling my girlfriends how much people are affected by the bad things that happen to them and this podcast just seems to get that. Grief is more than death. Love that Shelby name-drops other resources besides her podcast and her advice on dealing with nosy people in the second episode was really spot-on. Can't wait to hear more!

A Friend in the Room
I lost my husband in 2014 and have had a hard time talking about my grief with friends and family, especially now that almost four years has passed. Shelby and her guests make me feel like I'm not alone and remind me that there are people out there who are still grieving old losses. Her voice and messages are like having a friend in the room when I'm by myself at home.

I'm sorry but it's really boring. The duration is 1 hour. At 26 mins the guest was still not able to speak. I don't know what happened but the host talks a lot about herself and totally unrelated or unnecessary. She should have just do an intro and introduce the guest and go directly to the interview. The podcast format is boring.
