Episode 032 with Sara Raymond: Cultivate Joy and Happiness: 20 Minute Guided Mindfulness Meditation It is your mind’s job to think, yet thoughts can seem to “get in the way” or be seen as a distraction when practicing meditation. This is true for first-time meditators as well as long-time practitioners. It is simply how the mind works. So the next logical question is, how do you deal with thoughts during meditation? I will guide you on this practice today. Be patient and compassionate with yourself during this process and know that thoughts, like breath, will rise and fall. Simply knowing this fact is the first step to increasing your ability to avoid getting stuck in thoughts during meditation and in life. I will start with a quote to contemplate from the book “Peace is Every Step,” by Thich Nhat Hanh. “In us, there is a river of feelings in which every drop of water is a different feeling, and each feeling relies on all the others for its existence.
