Episode Info: Tony Funderburk - Rhyme and Reason Author, Singer Songwriter, Podcaster, Visionary Greetings and salutations fellow humans Dear Mom. Or…Hi babe. Just a couple of ways people start letters and emails these days. No composition or journalistic award winners there. But they get the job done, I suppose. And who cares anyway, right? Well, besides me I guess. I’ve been a fan of language and vocabulary from almost the time I could speak. So, I’m partial to a little more poetry. More rhythm. Sparkle. Depth. Because I think a more thought out form of communication leads to more in-depth thinking. Imagine if our greetings and salutations were more like this… Greetings and salutations from about 2000 years ago “Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who ccannot lie, promised before time began, but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;  To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.” Wow! Now, that’s a greeting AND a salutation full of fascination and punctuation. It’s from Paul’s letter to Titus in the New Testament of the Bible. And in that opening to a rather short letter (by Paul’s standards) is the embodiment of the Christian faith. And if you’d care to know what’s in the rest of the letter, you can read it HERE. Or you can hear me read it by tuning into this episode of the Rhyme and Reason Podcast.
