Conventional Wisdom, Repackaged
Developing Disruption doesn't cause me to want to download any more Trail Blazers podcasts. I was very disappointed. With a half hour to sping the tale, I had hoped Isaacson would go beyond the lazy journalism of most other writers on the topic of how Kodak faced the disruption of digital imaging. Some great interviews in here, but they seem mainly there to buttress the conventional wisdom of how Kodak didn't see or prepare for the cliff digital disruption meant for them. He leaves out a great deal of the story, but mainly never addresses the point of what exactly a company with a 70% market share and 70% margins was supposed to do when that stream dries up and there is no replacement business for it. (Other than getting into an entirely different cutthroat business, such as cell phone manufacturing.)
