Disabilities: Interpersonal Etiquette And Politically Correct Protocol!
"And God created mankind in His image" Genesis 1:27. Our featured guest, Dr. Tim Miles of the NC Orange County Disability Awareness Council, joins us to illustrate his scope on the aforementioned topic.
As society evolves by virtue of sophisticated technological advances, the rationale for heightened "political correctness" amid interpersonal communication, becomes proportionately paramount. However, this is especially pertinent within the delicate realm encompassing disabilities. Hence, due to the sensitivity of this arena, it behooves of us to navigate/ govern ourselves diplomatically/appropriately in this arena. Moreover, it's essential to ask ourselves the following:
1. What is the appropriate etiquette and/or politically correct protocol for navigating through interpersonal (namely in person) interactions with people and disabilities?
2. What are the faux pas of social encounters with individuals with disabilities (Ex. offering to assist those with disabilities. Is this a dual edged sword)? How can an equilibrium be attained to rectify imbalances entailed in such?
3. How is the biblical scripture, "And God created mankind in His image," Genesis 1:27 relevant this episode? For additional information pertaining to Dr. Tim Miles and the Disability Awareness Council please visit: http://triangledac.org
