Episode Info: Gaby Alter is a songwriter and composer based in Brooklyn. He writes for stage, television (MTV, PBS), film, radio (NPR), video games, and straight up pop songs. He is the recipient of a Jonathan Larson grant, and has won awards from the San Francisco Theater Critics' Circle and the New York International Fringe Festival for his scores. Gaby's musicals include NOBODY LOVES YOU with Itamar Moses, which premieres in May 2012 at San Diego's Old Globe Theater; BAND GEEKS! (Goodspeed Musicals, Human Race Theater), licensed by Music Theatre International; YOUNG ZOMBIES IN LOVE (Songwriting Award, New York International Fringe Festival); and THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT: A ROMANTIC COMEDY with Negin Farsad (Edinburough Fringe Festival, Ars Nova). His music has been performed at the Public Theater, Barrington Stage Company, Joe's Pub, the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF), The National Alliance of Musical Theater's Festival of New Works, and on Sirius Radio. Gaby has written for PBS Kids TV (Music Time With Mr. Steve), MTV's 16 and Pregnant, and penned the theme for NPR's nationally syndicated radio show Backstory with the American History Guys. As Gminor7, he is rapper MC Frontalot's keyboardist and co-writer, including YouTube hits "It Is Pitch Dark" and "Bizarro Genius Baby." He also scored and starred in the documentary about Frontalot, Nerdcore Rising, which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival and is now available on Netflix Instant Watch. Gaby is currently scoring the video game "Word Realms" by Assymetric Productions, creators of the online role playing game Kingdom of Loathing. He is a member of ASCAP and an alum of Tisch's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. (
