If one isn't prepared to suffer during adversity, I don't really see how he can become successful. -Gary Player Biggest Failure In May of 2008, it was the peak of the real estate crash. I received a phone call from my partner from my new home construction business saying "What you think the business is doing financially isn't true. We owe the bank over $2 million on our line of credit, I can't play the game anymore, and I'm moving to Cost Rica." The monthly note on all of the properties was over $35,000, and the bank literally took everything I had. There were times when I had a difficult time getting out of bed. Fortunately, at that time I had a real estate coach, that I was working with, my thinking coach. I finally came clean with her, and told her everything that was really going on. She persuaded me to list the 10 things that I was most grateful for every morning when I opened my eyes, and because of that, my real estate business and life took a complete turnaround. Just 6 years later, I am financially stronger than I ever have been before, and both of my brokerages hold no debt. Real Estate AH-HA Moment -Beginning with the daily exercise of listing the 10 things I'm most grateful for, I began feeling better. I also became an advocate of journaling. - A year and a half ago, one of my coaches introduced me to meditation, I now do an hour and a half of meditation each day. I set my alarm early enough to get that hour and a half in, everyday. It has allowed me to remove myself from all of the drama that is involved with the real estate business. Nugget of Knowledge When you build the basic skills of this business to a high level, this becomes one of the most freeing business you could have.
