Episode Info: Hey, folks. I'm forgoing the "Our Idiot" hoo-ha this week because it just doesn't feel right for this week's show. I've known Janice for five years now, and although I knew she was an awesome, intelligent, funny woman with a goddamn snappy haircut, I had no idea what she's been through, and the stories she had to tell. Janice and I talked about her life of living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, something that she was only diagnosed with in 2012. We talk about her journey to that diagnosis, the struggles she experienced, and the people who helped her along the way. She also dispels a ton of stereotypes, and drops serious knowledge. Although I say this in the show, it bears repeating that Janice and I are talking about her experiences, and solely hers. In no way are we trying to encompass all people with Autism Spectrum Disorders as a whole, because as you'll hear, that would be damn near impossible. This is one person's story. One amazing person. Finally, for the record, this show contains my absolute worst sum-up ever (I'm still recovering from distilling 20 years of San Francisco gentrification in two minutes, apparently), but luckily, Janice gave me a couple of links where you can learn more about Things. I'm super-thankful she was on the show, and she's welcome back anytime to explain absolutely whenever to me.
