Episode Info: Writer Jason McNamara has been a good pal to me in the comics world since around 2004. Back then we both had an early eye on self publishing comics, and making them professionally come hell or high water. Hell hath come and gone again, high water has now receded all the way down to not enough water, and here we are, both still making comics. This is perhaps the most fun episode of the Storycraft podcast, bringing me to more laughs during the edit than any other so far. This was recorded outside at Duboce Park in San Francisco, CA, over a couple of brown bagged IPAs (fine, we are hipsters,) so perhaps the opinion and language run a tad deep, but the industry talk is frank, revealing, and taught me a thing or two about my approach to the work, as well as persistence. The recording was also made before I read The Rattler (pictured above.) Without bias, I will tell you it is a chilling, harrowing ride that never goes where you think it will. Jason has a deft hand turning a scene and ratcheting up tension, which is all the more dynamic through the lens of Greg Hinkle's gritty, gorgeously designed art. Easily a top 5 read for me in the last year. I'll look into the availability of more in the near future. Greg Hinkle is hard at work on a new Airboy comic, but we are circling a time to have him on the show as well, most likely to coincide with that release. Follow Jason and Greg on twitter @jasonmcnamara and @greg_hinkle respectively, and respecfully. *please note this episode was originally published in early 2014. If it sounds familiar, now you know why.
