Keeping Time with Dawna Ballard
This episode, I have Dr. Dawna Ballard of UT Austin on the show to talk about the tool of time, the feelings we have associated with our commitments in keeping time, how the age of electricity created a huge shift in our work lives and expectations and the biological and external pacers that run our lives. Dawna Ballard (Ph.D., University of California at Santa Barbara, 2002) is an expert in chronemics—the study of time as it is bound to human communication. She researches what drives our pace of life and its impact on the communication practices and longterm vitality of organizations, communities, and individuals. Her research and commentary have been featured in mainstream news outlets such as Quartz, Huffington Post, PBS MediaShift, NPR, and at venues such as Creative Mornings and SXSW Interactive 2016. This March she will be speaking at SXSW Interactive 2018 on her recent research: It’s Time: How to Find Alignment & Abandon Work-Life Balance.

Topics Worth Pondering, High Production Quality
Based on the production quality of episode zero, I'm very excited to see the show Melanie creates! Sounds like she'll be diving into some great questions that we should all pause and think about. Plus, anyone who is a fan of Radiolab and creates their podcast with that insight tends to make good stuff. "Shout out to Jad!" Love it!
