In this final teaching in the Mindful Living series, I’m actually combining two teachings both of which have to do with connection. Connection with others and connection with self. During the holidays, I find an extra awareness around connection to be an important boundary for me. There are obligations, family get-togethers, school and work functions, pressure to volunteer… And, many of these are either unavoidable and/or good in some ways. And, difficult in some ways… In the midst of this, it helps to make sure to schedule yourself sometime to connect with someone who truly supports and uplifts you, who reminds you of your values. This teaching is a reminder not to over-commit to the things and people that drain us. Not that you have to avoid them completely, but to balance these commitments with real connection. Brene Brown defines connection as “the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, & valued; when they can give & receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” What makes you feel connected? Tune into today’s talk and meditation on The Mindful Minute and let me know how you intend to stay connected through the end of the year! #meditatewithmeryl
