Episode 38 of the Mavens Do It Better Podcast features President, Chris Bayot and Founder and Creative Director, J’aime Kailani of Mama Earth, a community organization with a mission to make positive change through the power of music, culture, art & nature. Mama Earth has many initiatives #Pride4PH is one that connects leaders from a collection of nonprofit organizations, corporations, government officials and international celebrities to work cooperatively for the good of our earth while sharing the spirit of ALOHA with the world. Chris and J’aime are both entrepreneurs, producers, speakers, activists and philanthropists. Chris worked for years as a consultant in the SharePoint technology community and along with her role at Mama Earth, she now manages award-winning musician, singer and her husband, Hawaii’s own Johnny Valentine’s tours and bookings. J’aime is an artist, maker, mover and shaker and founder of a gorgeous line of essential oils, ilovebyj’aime and founded Mama Earth over twelve years ago in tribute to her Mother, emerging artists and to shed a light on land and ocean conservation efforts globally. 

Chris, J’aime and Heather caught up virtually from Los Angeles, Ohio and Marina del Rey, CA.

  • Why J’aime founded Mama Earth in 2007 and all the wonderful programming and initiatives they continuously bring into the world including five years of producing the One Peace Festival, an annual pop-up art exhibit that showcases outstanding work by emerging and established artists supported by Leonardo DiCaprio.  

  • Producing the original One Peace Festival dedicated to J’aime’s Mother, artist, entertainer and producer – Bernadette Bayot-Hernandez and how her brother, Bruno Mars, and other artists and entertainers have contributed to their environmental efforts. The next One Peace Festival is June 26-28 in Honolulu which also benefits #PrideforPH an initiative that brings together some of the most influential people in environmental advocacy to clean up Manila Bay, Philippines while supporting the local people and culture.

  • Chris’ move from working as a consultant and regional director in technology to the President of Mama Earth and road manager and how her days in tech has influenced her producing events and initiatives for Mama Earth. Along with diving into what she loves about non-profit work, raising money for great causes and enjoying every moment, her family, and working and playing in paradise in Hawaii.

Chris C. Bayot has a diverse background in technology, artist management and in the nonprofit sector that makes her uniquely qualified to help support charitable organizations in a variety of ways.  Her more than 7 years supporting nonprofits have been focused on working with art and music centered programs. During this time, she learned the ins and outs of creating and running a nonprofit business and became a certified grant proposal writer. Chris also spent more than 10 years as the Director of a technical consulting firm, helping businesses such as the Hawaiian Airlines and the Bank of Hawaii create enterprise solutions to improve efficiency. Chris hopes this variety of experience as well as the connections she has made managing her husband’s music career will bring benefit to the charities she works with and ultimately have a positive impact on our community.

J’aime Kailani Bayot is an artist, entrepreneur, activist, producer and a mother to two sons, Marley and Jaimeson. She founded Mama Earth Project in 2007 with a vision to provide people with the opportunity to experience the power of giving and making a difference. Since then, Mama Earth has launched several successful initiatives in Los Angeles that continue to make an impact through arts, music and nature. J’aime Kailani believes that people can truly connect through acts of kindness and the transformative power of sharing and positive exchange of energy; whether it be through a song or dance or artwork. She is dedicated working for the good of Mama Earth.
