We're back with another conversation about gender and gender stereotypes. On #108, Rachel loves how James Comey was given the "who are you wearing" treatment by GQ at the start of his book junket. Matt relays a story about a husband protecting his wife on an airplane. And together Rachel and Matt answer a mystery question about waging war on the patriarchy while studying abroad. So, I think this is a better than 'meh' production. I am interested in most of the topics they cover, as I think gender discussions usually come from more extreme views.
Rachel Leventhan-Weiner seems very earnest, a bit sheltered and privileged, and they type of person that would hyphenate her last name--but still likeable. Most of her opinions are well-reasoned.
Matthew Dicks, is the type of guy who would wear jeans and a t-shirt to your wedding. He is that Facebook friend who doesn't own a TV, and constantly reminds everyone that he doesn't own a TV. Underneath his thinly veiled passive-aggression, I pick up a dollop of misogyny.
I will probably keep listening
