Are you shopping around for a new computer for your home or office? Are you confused by all the different models and options that are available? Are you looking for a device to do a specific task? Buying a new computer can be a confusing time for those who are not technically minded.
Therefore, you may need some assistance in choosing the right computer for you.
If you’re interested in learning how to select the right type of computer for your needs, and ensure you get the most out of your computing devices, then you’ll want to invest 20 minutes to listen to this edition of Powering Up for NON-TECHIES.
In this episode, your host Eva Marienchild interviews Justin Martell, Computer Department Manager at London Drugs, about what you should think about when you are choosing a new computer for your home or office. Ensure you are making the right choice when you are buying a new desktop, laptop or tablet with this in-depth podcast guide.

The first critical area which Justin explains the buyer needs to think about is the cost. Without knowing how much you are willing to spend you can’t estimate whether you can afford machines which are presented to you.
However, Justin also explains that it is not just the cost of the device you should consider. Buyers need to know the costs of the other additions that will come with the computer such as antivirus software, programs such as Microsoft Office, a headset, or even a carrying case.
The Main Use
Justin continues by saying those looking to buy a device must also think about what they are going to use the device for. Some of the basic demands, such as checking emails and surfing the web can be completed by tablets. Yet some high tech requirements like photo editing and gaming might need the power of high-spec desktops.
Another question is how you are going to use the machine. This relates to if you are going to need to be mobile, with the freedom to move from room to room, or if you are leaving it in a stationary place, like a home office.
A Change In Technology
One of the things that Justin discusses is how people are unaware of how fast technology can change. He states that advancement in technology is inevitableRead more »
