Episode Info: Joaooao Conrado, CEO Ghetz Footware, London,UK Joao Conrado talks about the growth of the Ghetz Footware business in the UK, Europe and the US with the Anatomic brand men's shoes. Joao has studied mechanical engineering and worked as a lawyer at legal firms in Sao Paulo and has dealt with big commercial contracts and litigations in Brazil. In 2001 having moved to the UK for his MBA, Joao decided he was far better as a sales man and didn't want to spend his working life wearing a tie. Joao is also from the city of Franca in the State of Sao Paulo one of the leading shoemaking regions in Brazil and, while at university, sold shoes to pay for his student finances. Joao and his partner Moema Pimentel started Ghetz Footwear in 2004. After just three years, their Anatomic & Co brand had become one of the top 10 brands selling men's shoes to independent stores in the UK. It was shortlisted as 'Brand of the year' for the Drapers Footwear Awards in 2009 and 2010. I was introduced to Joao and Moema by Mariangela Abreu, Vistage Brazil coordinator in Campinas. Joao also talks about how Vistage UK helped Ghetz become a better company.
