This Podcast covers - Babies and the placenta connection. Summary The placenta is obviously the last physical connection of baby to mum before the cord is cut and baby is physically out in the world on their own. Babies do not 'separate' their body from mums body until roughly 1 year of age. I have treated many babies and when mum tells me there was a problem with the placenta if I acknowledged that when working with the baby that was often when I started to get good changes with tricky to treat babies. There are certain cultural practices around the placenta and umbilical cord and also if the placenta is retained, or there is a problem post birth. It is important to know what happened with the placenta after the birth. Was it kept by the mum or thrown away by the hospital? When treating babies think about placenta and cord and what happened post birth acknowledge that with the baby and than mum. Keep treating those babies as you'redoing great work that is so needed in the world!
