Theology at the Eucharistic Table
About This Show
Show Info: Abbot Jeremy Driscoll, OSB, has been teaching theology at Mount Angel Seminary for over thirty years. From 1994 until 2016 he also taught at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant’Anselmo in Rome. In 2002 he was named as advisor to the Vox Clara Commission for the Congregation for Divine Worship at the Vatican. In 2004 he was named a member of the Pontifical Academy of Theology. In 2005 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II as Consultor to the Congregation for Divine Worship. A much-beloved professor at Mount Angel, Abbot Jeremy has a gift for guiding his students systematically into the deeper mysteries of the Trinity, especially as they are unfolded and made accessible to man in the Liturgy. His students often refer to his theological lectures as retreat experiences. One pupil affectionately remarked, “Abbot Jeremy could read the side of a cereal box to you and you would feel edified.” After taking Abbot Jeremy’s Introduction to Theology, a few seminarians began to meet with him to further pursue some of the class topics. The conversations that followed were edifying to such a point that the students felt everyone should hear them: Theology at the Eucharistic Table Podcast was born. Loosely following the structure of his book by the same title, Abbot Jeremy and four seminarians discuss God and the Trinitarian life within the context in which it was – and is – primarily made accessible to us: the Eucharistic Table.
