In today’s episode, part one of Karen’s interview with Lisa Carpenter, author of the new book "Let’s E.A.T!" the book for women who are sick of the guilt and shame of dieting, Lisa talks about how she first became interested in working with women struggling to lose weight and how she realized that it was more a matter of teaching women how to change the way they think about themselves, than it was about creating a diet they could follow. As a nutrition and life coach, Lisa empowers her clients to connect deeply with their emotions, free themselves from judgment, and create lasting physical and emotional transformations. Karen shares her struggle with getting off the diet roller coaster and how since her thirties, she has been repeating a frustrating cycle of overeating, following by obsessive dieting and exercise, only to gain it all back, repeating the cycle all over again. Lisa also talks about her own emotional transformation in the years since she and her husband started on a journey of his recovery from addiction, and how her E.A.T. program came into existence. And next week, in episode 9, the interview will continue with Lisa helping Karen to discover why she’s been stuck in this cycle of alternating between overeating and then obsessively dieting and exercising for so many years and how she can finally start the work that it will take to finally be happy with herself no matter what. So if this is something you’re struggling with, you’ll definitely want to listen to today’s episode and tune in again next week for the second half!
