Ronnie McBrayer is a busy man. He pastors Simple Faith Church in Santa Rosa, Florida. He also maintains a blog and publishes a syndicated column titled Keeping the Faith. Somewhere between these tasks, he's found time to publish a few books, including The Gospel According to Waffle House. The tagline for this book is Re-imagining A Community Of Faith, and that's exactly what Ronnie talks about in the book. What if church was as inviting as the Waffle House? What if church welcomed cold, wet and lonely strangers the way they are welcomed at Waffle House? I think you will enjoy the comparisons between the two organizations. This book isn't just a bunch of feel-good Waffle House analogies. It's a good, hard look at how we do things now, and how to rethink our future as the body of Christ. How can we simplify, serve one another and reach out to the world around us? How can we use less resources on buildings, parking lots and programs, and spend more on taking care of the poor and needy around the world? I had a lot of fun talking to Ronnie McBrayer, and I am honored to have him on the show. I know you will find the conversation interesting. When you go to his website, ronniemcbrayer.me, you will also find some great audio downloads of previous sermons. I wish he were in iTunes so you could subscribe to his sermons. For now, we will have to settle for taking them from the site.
