The Type A Creative
About This Show
What is the Type A Creative? I'm so glad you asked!
The Type A Creative is a podcast for driven creatives.
For a long time, when I thought of the word “artist” I usually thought of a painter — someone floaty and magical, absorbed in their own world of art.
But, I’m not like that. Yes, I’m a writer and designer. But I’ve got a business brain and some monster-sized ambition to match. For years I’ve been running a business and building a career around my creative skills. But now, I’m also working to cultivate a creative practice that's not necessarily for sale, for a client, or to fulfill some ambition. I'm out to have some "creativity for keeps."
As driven people, we often have a hard time believing this kind of creativity is "worth it." We sneakily talk ourselves into thinking it has to turn into a business, otherwise, it's indulgent, or simply not worth our time.
I'm looking for a bit of inner peace between my driven entrepreneur and my inner artist. My question for myself, and hopefully all of you is, "How do we balance a life where we want BOTH? Both creativity and art, but also big career goals?"
In this podcast, I talk to people who are starting new creative projects, have thriving creative projects, and have conversations with a rotating cast of my smart friends — from fellow bosses to creative directors and working writers, filmmakers, and artist.
Together we have conversations about what it is to be both Type A and creative.Read more »

Her journey of self-discovery has been an invitation to embrace her true, beautiful self. She has worked as a Finance Specialist for Cru for 9 years and became a CPA in 2011. In 2017 she started Letter Loving Designs, a shop where she sells her beautiful hand-lettered objects as well as teaching hand-lettering workshops so others can learn to be creative too. She loves to laugh and will do almost anything for Oreos and ice cream. Jackie lives in Orlando FL with her husband, John, and 3 kids – Olivia (5), JT (3) and Ethan (2). She’s spent years perfecting the art of putting on makeup, creating the most delectable dishes for a dinner party, and curating a living room full of curiosities that would inspire the most avid of collectors. When she’s not making other people laugh, she’s scheming her next project to use her creative skills for good while snuggling with her gigantic dog Lily. Connect with Emily: On Instagram About The Type A Creative Podcast: The Type A Creative is for those of us who feel like walking juxtapositions. You know who you are. You can balance spreadsheets just as easily as you can design a logo. Sometimes it’s a little disorienting because you’re a left-brain / right-brain blend that doesn’t always fit into the labels of “artist” or “numbers person.” On the show we bring in fellow bosses, painters, creative directors, film makers, entrepreneurs, and writers — together we’re having conversations about what it is to be both Type A and Creative.
