DISGRACELAND
About This Show
Show Info:
Murder, infidelity, suicide, arson, overdose, religious cults, drug trafficking; this podcast explores the alleged true crime antics and criminal connections of musicians we love like Jerry Lee Lewis, Beck, The Rolling Stones, Tay K-47, Tupac Shakur, Mayhem, Van Morrison and many more. Why? Because real rock stars are more like feral, narcissistic animals than functioning members of society and that is precisely what makes them so damn entertaining. If you love true crime and you love music then get ready to love this podcast.

Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes: Hit Me Again and I'll Burn Your House Down

TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was known as “the crazy one”. She did, after all, burn down her NFL playing boyfriend, Andre Rison’s mansion. But given the fact that it was done after what was then one of many domestic assaults, Disgraceland chooses to view Left Eye as a bad ass… and not "the crazy one". This episode digs into what really happened that night, who Lisa Lopes really was as a person and the details surrounding her own premature death.

Great use of SAT words but awful podcast
This is not a good podcast. The stories are overly embellished, it takes forever to get to the point, and the host is overly wordy and long winded. The explanation of the awful music that is played in each episode- the " I don't have money for it but here's why I would have played it" is a really annoying and not interesting way to call out the year in which the crime was committed. Why not talk about the headlines of the year, who was president, what was happening in general, etc? I've tried to give it a fair go and have listened to all of the episodes so far but I can't possibly continue, it's just really badly done.

A New Favorite!
As an avid crime podcast fanatic, Disgraceland is easily my new favorite podcast there is. The host is well-informed and enthusiastic that it can be hard to remember that there is only one individual narrating the story. My only disgruntlement is that there isn't more yet but I'm super excited for what's to come. If you love music, history, and/or crime - this podcast is ideal for you.

Thoroughly enjoy
Not your typical True Crime podcast. More of a storytelling narrative than 'these are the facts'. Oh and it's music themed.

Great show!
This may be a new podcast, but the host is ever so professional. Good music, great subjects, not over-produced. I've been listening to a few podcasts, and this one is really well done. Give it a chance!

Great topic, poor writing, misguided sound track
I was excited about this rock and roll true crime show. I made if through the first 1.75 episodes but just couldn't go on. This is a great concept, but the show is seriously flawed: the script needs a good editor and the backgound music needs a serious overhaul.

Interesting Subject Material Marred by Bad Writing
I love music, and I also love true crime. A podcast that marries both? What could be better? Unfortunately this podcast misses the mark badly for me. The material is genuinely interesting for fans of either genre. As I listened I wanted to know more about each topic. The problem is that you have to wade through a cess pool of terrible writing to get to the information on each topic. The whole podcast reads (listens) like a poorly written novel. I can't tell if the producer is an inexperienced writer, actor, or both. The writing is overly embellished, the reading overly dramatic, and can be unnecessarily vulgar. Just stick to the facts and let them tell the story. The production is also interrupted by odd musical interludes that sound like they were picked up at a discount from an NPR cutting room floor. When you're talking about rock and roll, punk etc... use it! Instead we get off-time acoustic guitar strums and halloween store sound effects. I really really wanted to like this. I will give a few more episodes a listen to see if he can work out the kinks. If not, this podcast is better off dead...

Your next favorite podcast! :-)
True crime + musicians! It's a really interesting twist on true crime podcasts! I would recommend starting with the episode on Norwegian Death Metal -- it's great!
Despite being a new podcast, it's obviously put together by someone who understands how to use a microphone and where music augments the storytelling!
Definitely give it a spin!
Rock on!

True Crime + Music History!
What an excellent concept! The music industry is such an insane mix of lethal strategy, pressure and talent and this podcast is birthing something that captures that flavor. I am so excited to hear more episodes of this! All the luck to you. ♥
