N - SV is a fun Animal Crossing type experience. It has small fun stories that bring you along on an interesting adventure. What starts off as basically a farming simulator quickly becomes a whole lot more as you advance into more of the game.A- SV harkens back to the original Harvest Moon games, and with good reason. Developer Eric Barone, like many of us, felt that the HM games had sort of spiraled away from their roots instead of making progress forward. Enter SV.
N - Having played and restarted the game several times, I found the game to have a learning curve of sorts. Planning out your farm, making sure you get the most out of each day trying to balance the time of day as well as personal energy. I never got overly far in the game, but I certainly enjoyed the time I did get out of it and I find myself going back to it now and again.A - As a Harvest Moon veteran, I’ve been playing some version of this game for the better part of two decades. It seemed pretty light on the tutorials, and I’m not entirely sure if that’s true or if I just ignored them because I had a good grasp of what I was doing. I had the wiki open, my future wife picked out (because all the guys were complete bitches) and a comprehensive list of her likes and dislikes at my fingertips all before the end of my first week on the farm. This was not my first rodeo.
N - I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a good social simulator. The need to build up relationships with the different town folk as well as establish your own life there provides a fun gaming experience with good replay value. A - This “borrows” heavily from the old Harvest Moon games, occasionally questionably so, but it adds enough new stuff, like extra character customization and a more open world to make it a solid game in its own right.
N - I would give SV a 4 out of 5 star rating. It is one of the best developed indie games I’ve played. A - I’ll give it 4 out of 5 stars. Derivative, but one hell of a derivatio
