"Once you've lost your privacy, you realize that you've lost an extremely valuable thing."
- Billy Graham
The culture war is heating up, and we're seeing the evil strategy of doxing becoming more common place. Employers, family members, friends, all become the targets of the enemy, especially one that wants to shame you into doing their will.
Not all info leaks come from doxing, but the swift repercussions of too much of your information getting out to the public can be extremely damaging.
This week's Hot Chaco focuses on the loss of privacy, and a personal story of how I accidentally made my son's "drunken passport baby" photo go viral. The fallout included ABC's Good Morning America finding my personal email address, the Daily Mail publishing other photos of my kid, and NBC news calling my work.
To get a better understanding of the damages of a privacy malfunction or doxing, I spoke to online journalist Ian Miles Cheong. He is a writer for Heat Street, the Daily Caller, and for The Sun in the UK. He too had recently been doxed, and weighed in on his experience of being doxed, and that of other more famous breaches.
