Cognitive Dissonance
About This Show
Show Info:
Every episode we blast anyone who gets in our way. We bring critical thinking, skepticism, and irreverence to any topic that makes the news, makes it big, or makes us mad. It’s skeptical, it’s political and there is no welcome mat.

Laugh or cry
Tom and Cecil's comedic talent is to see the funny side in stories that would normally make people weep and wonder what is happening to our humanity. They highlight the ridiculous things that magical thinking will make people do. Their jabs at religion, politics and stupidity are well aimed. This podcast has been running for a long time and maintains consistently high quality of criticism as well as production values. I would reckon this podcast to those who are not critical thinkers, they would benefit seeing what their actions look like from the outside. Also I highly recommend this podcast to atheist, humanists and critical thinkers, as we really need a laugh.

Such Skepticism Much Laughter Wow 5/5 GIANT WORMS
Found Tom and Cecil through their most recent guest appearance on an episode of The Thinking Atheist on Youtube, and I haven't stopped listening since. It's been the best and worst thing to ever happen to me as a relatively new and out atheist. I can both not stop laughing hysterically and not stop listening to the craziness they report on (and I use the word report loosely) long enough to get homework done. Self-deprecatory humor abound, ridiculous hyperbole, and of course, GIANT WORMS (my favorite part of the Skeptic's Creed). Keep up the good work boys.

I love this show!
This NSFW podcast reminds me of the good natured camaraderie of the car talk guys mixed with irreverent, foul-mouthed discussion about the news of the day. While the colorful language may be difficult for some, I find it appropriate for the sadness and anger some of the subject matter evokes.
Tom and Cecil fill a niche for those of us who are comfortable with our atheism and are just looking for some entertainment. For me, an episode of Cognitive Dissonance is like settling down with some atheist buddies over a beer to gleefully rant about the crazy stuff we see around us.

Simply The Best
I listen to a lot of Podcasts to help me get through the drudge that is my working week and Cognitive Dissonance stands head and shoulders above the rest. Informative and funny, I listen to every episode at least twice, it never fails to entertain me.
Tom and Cecil have amazing chemistry and are not afraid to confront their own ignorance when it comes to the topic being discussed. They find amusement in the most unlikely places but, although it sometimes borders it, it can't be described as sick or offensive.
If you have any doubts, give a few shows a listen. What's the harm ;)

Puerile low noise-to-signal ratio
I really am with those guys' sentiment and agree with much of what they say. But the podcast is terrible. It's at least five times longer than it should be for the information content. Mostly a bunch of guys who like to hear themselves talk too much. The plentiful gratuitous swearing doesn't improve things. I'm fine with swearing, but it unfortunately loses it's punch when used every few seconds. The podcasters need to learn to reserve swearing for things that matter. I listen to a lot of skeptical podcasts, but I've given up on this one. Done by immature people with good intentions, but no idea of how to make a point effectively.

Great show guys, keep it up!
I contacted Stitchers help desk a couple months ago to ask 'how can I leave a review without needing Facebook?' To which they replied, 'meh, might get around to doing summat eventually.'
Well they have eventually done something! They sent me an email to rate your great show. So here it is.

I can't listen to anything else anymore
I've been listening to various podcasts over the years, but since I stumbled across Tom & Cecil, I just cant listen to anything else.
I love these guys!
I love the irreverence. I love the childish humour and the constant laughing.
I love the swearing and the often gob-smacklingly awful news stories.
I'm currently working my way through the back catalogue, and quite frankly, my day just wouldn't be the same without Cognitive Dissonance.

Offensive realism with a personal touch
I have been listening to the show for the past year. It is not a common practice for me to listen to podcasts. There are only two I actually subscribe to on a regular basis and one being Cognitive Dissonance. The other being by the comedian Doug Stanhope. What I appreciate most is the unyielding comedic truths brought to light on deeply depressing stories across religions and climates. No one is safe and their is not a thought for the feelings of those that might become offended. Whether it be the open disclaimers to find another show or simply telling people we do this for fun. It is genuine and loveable. Like a couple of foul mouthed Tickle Me Elmo dolls that will not stop laughing and make you cringe with illustrative language at times. This podcast is both entertaining and informative. All while allowing you to feel a real connection to the hosts. Whenever I listen to them while I drive it feels like having to close friends along for the ride to laugh with loudly and robustly.
