Religion, Dick Gregory + Neo Nazis - The August Update
After a brief sabbatical, we're back at it! Wide ranging conversation this month, but - per usual - a WHOLE LOT OF GAME!!
Matt (@ManOfCulture) shared details on a road trip he took recently. He started in Memphis, TN, then went to Kansas City, KS (home of the Quindaro Ruins), and Omaha, NE (birthplace of brother Malcolm X). Matt visited the historical marker at Malcolm X's birthplace, and randomly met a guy named Jed. They talked about The Autobiography of Malcolm X and Charlottesville. We played video of that meeting!
There was discussion on the role of the ancestors in Matt's religious practices. Josh (@_RajuWorld) shared that it's interesting that how some people use their beliefs to "civilize their savagery" while it should be used as a tool to promote and motivate you to accomplish more, to carve out our presence and future.
RIP to the great Dick Gregory. We discussed his significance to us as a comedian and civil rights activist. Bro. Gregory used comedy and candid language in a radical way to highlight an experience (Black experience) that is not being discussed enough. Shared a great quote from Gregory, "People say Black folks are like crabs in a pot, pulling each other down. Nobody asks why they're pulling each other. It's because the crabs are in boiling water!"
The convo shifts to being an ACTOR and not a spectator. Josh challenges us to stop complaining about issues in the Black community and assess where we spend our TIME, MONEY and ENERGY.
We go on to discuss some news and current events!
In our Let Me Put You On segment, Bishop Josh put us on Lil Kodak "Tunnel Vision!" See yall next month!
