For those unfamiliar with college basketball, or ardent followers who only keep up with the biggest programs, you need to pay attention to a program making some noise for the first time in a good long while: Sacramento State. On this week's episode, I have the driving force behind the renaissance that has taken place at the school, Brian Katz. Coach Katz has headed up the Sacramento State Men's basketball program for the past six years improving the team's conference record each year. This past season's seven-game home win streak from January 18th to February 22nd matched the longest in school history, and the team's 14 overall wins this season tied for the second-most all-time in the school's history. Things look promising for this upcoming season as the team will return all five starters. I strongly urge anyone interested in men's college basketball to keep their attention on Sacramento State, as the program continues to grow under the tutelage of Coach Katz. On the episode, we discuss coaches that have had a big influence on his coaching style, what he's looking to emphasize for next season, the impressive second half play of Eric Stuteville and Nick Hornsby, the impact technology has had on the way he recruits, the amazing game-winner by Dylan Garrity, and what he's most proud of accomplishing during his time at Sacramento State.
